HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ A manufacturing company has promised to increase its workforce by one-third as it moves a Massachusetts division to Connecticut with $2 million in state aid.

Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy announced Tuesday that C. Cowles and Co. is relocating its Carlin Combustion Technology division from East Longmeadow, Massachusetts, to North Haven.

Founded in New Haven in 1838, the metal stamping company will consolidate the division, offices and four other manufacturing segments.

C. Cowles will add 59 jobs to its workforce of 116 employees. It received a $250,000 state job training grant and a $1.77 million loan to finance the move, acquire the North Haven building, conduct environmental remediation and make mechanical upgrades and retrofits.

C. Cowles may receive loan forgiveness of up to $885,125 if it meets or exceeds job creation and retention commitments.
