GROTON, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) _ An 8-year-old boy was left in the car in Groton on a hot day Monday by his grandparents, who are now under arrest.

Ambiorix Rondon, 61, and Maria Rondon, 53, of 56 Anthony Rd., Apt. B, in New London, are charged each with risk of injury to a minor and leaving an unattended child in a motor vehicle.

Police found the child in the car outside a shopping center at 664 Long Hill Road Monday and determined he’d been in the vehicle for about 45 minutes. The interior temperature of the vehicle ranged from 103 degrees to 114 degrees.

Two of the windows were partially open. The boy was OK.

The Rondons were each released on $2,500 bonds, due in court Aug. 11.
