HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - The new chief of Frontier Communications Corp. in Connecticut says the company will increase its broadband service on what previously had been AT&T’s footprint in the state as landline telephone business continues to erode.

Frontier announced Wednesday that Paul Quick was appointed senior vice president and general manager of Connecticut operations.

He most recently held the same job in Pennsylvania.

Frontier and AT&T announced last December that AT&T would sell its wireline operations in Connecticut for $2 billion.

The deal must still win state regulatory approval.

Frontier also acquired AT&T’s U-verse video and satellite TV customers in Connecticut.

Quick said Frontier will add 75 jobs to Connecticut’s unionized workforce of 2,348 within the first six months of the AT&T deal closing this year.

Another 10 jobs will be added in 2017.
