State Senator Expected To Recover After Fall

(CBS Connecticut) — State Senator Andrew Maynard is expected to recover, after falling from an outside staircase at his home in Stonington.

The deputy majority leader’s family today released a statement through a Senate Democrats spokesperson:

First, our family would like to thank the outpouring of support we’ve received in the way of thoughts and prayers from so many friends around Connecticut.  Additionally, the team of doctors and nurses at Rhode Island Hospital have been exemplary in their service.

Andrew suffered a fall early Sunday morning.  He suffered non-life threatening injuries and is in serious but stable condition and is resting comfortably with family and friends by his side.

Again, the outpouring of support has been greatly appreciated.  We request that our privacy be respected at this time and we will update you on Andrew’s condition as more information is available.  Any additional update on Andrew’s condition will come through the Senate Democrats Office.

Stonington Police said a neighbor saw the fall, which took place about 2:39 am Monday morning.

Maynard represents eight towns in the southeastern corner of Connecticut.

He was being treated at Rhode Island Hospital.
