Ship Departure Delayed

(MYSTIC,Conn./CBS Connecticut) – The departure of 1841 whaling  ship Charles W. Morgan   from New Bedford has been delayed until Tuesday morning. It had been scheduled to set  sail Monday for the Massachusetts Maritime Academy at the south end of Cape Cod,but Mystic Seaport officials said the forecast for  sustained winds and gusts and sea conditions  in Buzzards  Bay  prompted the  change.

The ship is  currently on  tour of New England ports.It rode out Hurricane Arthur in New Bedford.

The next leg of the voyage from the academy to Provincetown,via the Cape Cod Canal has also been pushed back one day to Wednesday.
