Gun Violence Claims 2 Lives

(BRIDGEPORT,Conn./CBS Connecticut)  –  Three early Sunday morning shootings in Bridgeport  have left a man and a woman dead and  4 other people wounded.

The first shooting happened just after midnight when police were called to 170 Pitt Street  for help in breaking up a large party.Shots were fired before officers arrived  and three people were wounded.The victims  are not cooperating with  police.

About 2:30 a.m. police responded  to  Barnum Avenue  and William Street where a 23 year old man was shot.He had been drinking  with friends.He walked away and  his friends heard  gunfire.He was pronounced dead a short time later at Bridgeport Hospital.

Shortly before 4  a.m. . detectives  responded to  another fatal shooting.This was the result of a domestic dispute. A woman was shot  inside  344 Pearl Street.Her mother,her mother’s boyfriend and  a five year old were also in the house.The mother’s boyfriend was shot in the leg.

The suspect was arrested  in less than an hour. Police say he  walked to a cab company on Stillman Street and requested a ride to New Britain.He was barefoot and  had blood on his head  at the time of the arrest.
