FITCHBURG, Mass. (AP) _ Family, friends and volunteers are gathering in Fitchburg to dedicate a granite bench in memory of the 5-year-old boy who was missing for months before being found dead.
The dedication of the bench in memory of Jeremiah Oliver is scheduled to start at noon Saturday in Coggshall Park.
The Sentinel & Enterprise reports that the dedication will be followed by a ceremony to honor those who volunteered to search for Jeremiah, and raised money for his funeral and for a trust fund for his siblings.
Jeremiah was reported missing in December and his body was found in April.
His mother and her boyfriend have been charged in his disappearance, but no one has been charged with his death.
The case led to an overhaul in the state’s child welfare department.
