(CBS Connecticut) –– Hartford Archbishop Leonard Blair was one of 25 new archbishops from around the world receiving the pallium Sunday from Pope Francis at the Vatican. A wool band placed over the shoulders, the pallium represents the connection of the archbishops to the pope, and is a sign of their authority.

The ceremony came during a mass marking the feast of Saints Peter and Paul at St. Peter’s Basilica.
