Groton Man Charged With Leaving Baby In Car At Supermarket

(CBS Connecticut) — A Groton man is charged with leaving a six-month-old baby in a car while he shopped.  Groton police say the temperature inside the car was over 130 degrees when they finally got inside — and they estimated the child had been inside at least half an hour.  The baby was alert and breathing, and was taken to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital.

33-year-old Brian Pavano is charged with risk of injury to a minor.  Police say they got a call from an anonymous citizen shortly after 2:30 telling them the child was in the car parked at the Shop-Rite Supermarket.  When authorities got there,  only one window was open,  and it was open less than an inch.

Police also called the Department of Children and Families.
