Police Investigate Two Accidents ,One Fatal In Middletown
Police in Middletown are investigating two separate accidents that sent three people to the hospital with injuries Saturday. According to police, 71-year-old Susan Thorpe was walking across Dr. Martin Luther King Way along Main Street around 11:20 a.m. when she was struck by a vehicle operated by 76-year-old Leonard Palmer. Thorpe was flown to Hartford Hospital by LifeStar helicopter with serious injuries.She died Saturday night. Police said Palmer was not injured in the accident.
Around 1:30 p.m., a second accident left two males with injuries. Police say a 2005 Subaru Impreza traveling south on Millbrook Road failed to negotiate a curve and struck a tree on the east side of the road. Two 19-year-old men were taken to Hartford Hospital by ambulance with serious injuries. Police are not releasing their names until their families have been notified.
Both accidents are being investigated by the Middletown Police Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team. Anyone who witnessed either accident, or has information about them, is asked to call Office Michael Inglis at 860-638-4063.
