One Dead In Early Sunday Morning Fire In Southington

SOUTHINGTON, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) _ One person was killed in a fire at an apartment at the Summer Brook Apartments on Darling Street in Southington early Sunday morning.

The fire broke out at apartment 32A around 4:30 a.m. and was quickly under control, but a resident on the second floor died.

Two other residents inside the home escaped and didn’t realize there was someone sleeping upstairs and that person died.

The victim, reportedly a female, has not been further identified and cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The fire was contained to that unit and a firefighter that was injured was treated and released from the hospital.
