BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) _ Federal prosecutors say a felon deserves a lengthy prison sentence for possessing guns in Connecticut, calling him a gun trafficker with a significant criminal history.
Prosecutors say Ernie Negroni, also known as “King Omega,” should be sent to prison for more than seven years when he is sentenced Wednesday in Bridgeport.
Negroni’s attorney urged a three-year sentence, saying his client suffered extraordinary abuse as a child and believes his criminal history was being overstated.
Negroni pleaded guilty to possessing two firearms by a convicted felon.
Prosecutors say Negroni acquired numerous guns at gun shows in Ohio and sold them in Connecticut without regard to who would use them or for what purpose. They say he’s an admitted member of the Almighty Latin King Nation.
