HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ A state commission that’s reviewing public policies in light of the deadly 2012 shooting at a Newtown elementary school is reviewing the progress it has made so far toward crafting a final report with recommendations to Gov. Dannel P. Malloy.

The 16-member Sandy Hook Advisory Commission was scheduled to meet Friday to receive updates from several subgroups focused on law enforcement, school safety and mental health and wellness.

Members have been meeting since Jan. 24, 2013 and have heard testimony from numerous experts.

The commission last met on Feb. 28. At that time, they hoped to review mental health and school records of the late, 20-year-old gunman, Adam Lanza. Lanza’s father, Peter, had expressed a willingness to help the commission obtain the documents for its investigation.
