It wasn’t just another stolen bicycle investigation for one Torrington police officer.

The theft of ten year old Emma Mabe’s bike from her yard last month really got to the officer who has donated a new bike to the girl.  Police spokesman, Lt. Bruce Whiteley says the officer wants to remain anonymous.

Whitely says the officer learned from Emma’s family that she really loves  bike riding and it was likely the family wouldn’t be able to replace the bike.  According to Whitely, the officer thought Emma is a “really sweet young girl” and it was unfair that she wouldn’t be able to ride her bike this summer; so he bought a new bike and dropped it off with Emma’s mom.
