NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) _ Connecticut’s largest labor organization is expected to endorse Democratic Gov. Dannel P. Malloy.

Approximately 300 delegates to the Connecticut AFL-CIO’s biennial political convention were meeting in New Haven on Tuesday to decide which candidate to support in the general election.

Malloy received several standing ovations when he addressed the group Monday. His chief Republican rival, Greenwich businessman Tom Foley, received some snickers when he tried to clarify his remarks about Connecticut needing a “Wisconsin moment.” Foley said he was referring to changing Democratic control of the legislative and executive branches and not changing collective bargaining rights, which happened in Wisconsin.

Besides candidates for governor, the AFL-CIO delegates were also expected to vote on endorsements for other state constitutional offices, state legislative seats and five U.S. House of Representatives seats.
