(CBS Connecticut) — The UConn Huskies and Duke Blue Devels have announced they’ll play a neutral-court game in December.  The game at IZOD Center in the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. December 18.

Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski said he’s excited about the game,  noting that both teans have a strong fan base in the New York-New Jersey area.  UConn head coach Kevin Ollie says UConn-Duke games have been “some of the most exciting and most meaningful games in UConn basketball history.”  He says the Huskies have “the utmost respect for Coach Krzyzewski and his program. ”

Last year’s Huskies were National Champions;  the Blue Devils finished the season with 26 wins and 9 losses.

Tickets for the game will go onsale at 10:00 a.m. Friday through Ticketmaster,  either online at ticketmaster.com,  or by phone at (800) 745-3000, at the IZOD Center box ofrfice starting at 11:00, Monday June 23.

The two teams have met on the basketball court nine times.  Duke leads the series five games to four,  but UConn has won four of the last five games.
