Labor Group To Host Malloy, Foley
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — Democratic Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and Greenwich businessman Tom Foley, the Republican Party’s endorsed candidate, are both appearing before Connecticut’s largest labor organization to seek their political endorsement in this year’s gubernatorial election.
Members of the Connecticut AFL-CIO on Monday are also scheduled to hear form Democratic Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman and state Rep. Penny Bacchiochi, the GOP’s endorsed candidate for lieutenant governor. The labor umbrella group is holding its 10th biennial political convention in New Haven on Monday and Tuesday.
It’s not certain that both Foley and Bacchiochi will be on the November ballot, however. Each faces a primary challenge Aug. 12.
Convention delegates are expected to vote on endorsements for state constitutional offices, state legislative seats and five U.S. House of Representatives seats.
