New Haven Shooting Probe Continues

(New Haven, Conn./CBS Connecticut) – The investigation continues into a shooting in New Haven Wednesday that left a 45-year-old man critically injured.

Just after 5 p.m, officers were dispatched to 154 Frank Street on a report a person had been shot.

The victim has been identifed as Joseph Mettelus.  He was found on a couch inside the residence with a chest wound.

Mettelus is in critical condition at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Police say the gunman entered the home, shot the victim, and fled on foot.

A witness reported some type of commotion prior to the shot being fired.

The suspect was described as wearing a hooded sweatshirt, and blue denim jeans.

Investigators haven’t yet indicated a motive for the shooting.
