Westport Police Seize Ecstasy Shipment, Arrest Brooklyn Man

WESTPORT, Conn. (AP) _ Westport police have arrested a New York City man and charged him with drug offenses after seizing more than four pounds of the narcotic ecstasy.

Police received information that a large amount of drugs would be traveling through town and stopped a vehicle driven by 39-year-old Gregory Gottman of Brooklyn, New York.

They seized the four pounds of ecstasy, in its pure form, ecstasy pills, methamphetamine powder and methamphetamine pills. It happened around 5:50 p.m. Sunday.

Gottman is charged with the sale of hallucinogens, possession of narcotics and other offenses. He is being held on $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on June 18. It was not immediately known if he has a lawyer.
