(Milford, Conn./CBS Connecticut) –The captain of a commercial boat is hospitalized with severe burns after the vessel caught fire on the Housatonic Saturday.
The fire broke out aboard the 45-foot clamming boat about 12:00 p.m. at the mouth of the river.
The captain and three others were on board at the time. Crews from the Coast Guard and other local fire departments helped in the rescue.
All four victims were taken to a hospital. The captain is suffering third-degree burns to his arms. It’s not clear what caused the fire.
The boat was towed to shore.
