(New Haven, Conn./CBS Connecticut) - A man is being treated after New Haven police say he was shot last night on a city street.

Just before 11:30, officers responded to the area of Winthrop Wtreet between Maple and Edgewood.

That’s where they found the victim, 41-year-old Kendall Woodson suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.

He told them he was shot during an attempted armed robbery.

Woodson was rushed to Yale-New Haven hospital.

Police say his injuries are non-life threatening.

Detectives spent the night and early morning interviewing witnesses.

They say the suspect is a black male about 5-foot-5 with a thin build.

He was dressed in a red shirt, jeans, and baseball cap.
