Race For The Cure Saturday

Thousands are expected in downtown Hartford this morning for the 2014 edition of the Susan G. Komen Foundation Race for the Cure,  to raise funds to battle breast cancer.

The 5K race starts and finishes in Bushnell Park, heading along Elm and Jewell,  down Pearl and along Market Street and back.  Registration starts at 7,  with the 5K starting at 8:30 and a 4K walk and 1.5K at 10:10.  Activities include a breakfast for breast cancer survivors,  and,  at 9:45 a survivor parade,  followed by a ceremony.

Money raised from the event goes to breast cancer education, screening and treatment programs.
