(CBS Connecticut) –– The headquarters of the Eastern College Athletic Conference is moving to Connecticut. The conference, the country’s largest intercollegiate athletic conference, will move from Massachusetts to Danbury in the next month.
Announcement of the move came from Governor Malloy’s office, which says the Department of Economic and Community Development will provide a $100,000matching grant, which requires creation of five jobs and a $300,000 loan. $200,000 of the loan will be forgiven if ten jobs are created in the next year and a half.
Conference Commissioner Kevin McGinnis says the move to The Matrix Corporate Center will “better enable us to service our entire membership at the highest levels.”
The conference has more than 300 member schools in Divisions I, II and III, located from Maine to North Carolina, and as far west as Missouri.
