Governor Visits Rail Yard To Discuss Renovations

(CBS Connecticut) – A $250-million improvement plan is underway at the New Haven rail yard.

Governor Dannel Malloy visited the facility today.

Malloy says the state has more new rail cars on order.

“They are more reliable, and are proving to be so, but we needed a state of the art facility to make sure that we maintain those cars,” Malloy said.

Malloy says a power substation was recently put into service at the yard.

Last fall, a power outage crippled Metro-North New Haven Line service.

The state recently bonded $80-million of the construction project’s funding.
