Police Now Suspect Golf Course Fire Was Set

(CBS Connecticut) — Meriden police now say they’re seeking a person of interest in connection with a restaurant fire this morning at Hunter Golf Club.

Initially, the fire marshal had suspected the cause of the 3 a. m. blaze at Violi’s Restaurant to be a mechanical issue involving a golf cart.  But now, police have released surveillance video which seems to depict a man carrying a gasoline can.  That person is wearing a baseball cap and glasses and may be talking on a cell phone.

Anyone who has any information is urged to call Meriden police at 203-630-6318.
