What A Gamble: UConn Grads Make $60K Off UConn Men Win

(CBS Connecticut) _ A nice payday for some recent University of Connecticut graduates.

The Las Vegas Sun says it started back in the fall like right out of a Hollywood blockbuster- 12 UConn frat brothers – all who have graduated in the last couple of years – on a trip to Las Vegas.

They were feeling extravagant and decided they’d all put $100 down at the Hard Rock Hotel gaming book on a 50-to-1 bet the UConn men’s basketball team would win the title.

After a season filled with ups and downs for the men, it seemed like a grand down the drain.

Then, the men went on that improbable run to win.

Last weekend, they collected, each one $5,000 richer, they stuck to their original plan – if the money paid out, they’d have a Memorial Day Weekend bash in Sin City.
