(CBS Connecticut) - A Connecticut Business and Industry Association survey finds that about 22 percent of manufacturers in the state plan to increase their workforce more than 5-percent next year.

But many companies are worried about finding skilled workers.

CBIA Education Foundation Director Judy Resnick says manufacturing technology is ever-changing, so training must be ongoing.

“The shelf life of knowledge is changing so quickly that no matter where you enter as an employee, you will continue to learn,” Resnick said. “That is probably more of a basic skill today.”

About 10-percent of the state’s workforce is in manufacturing.
