As Rascal Flatts Returns To Hartford, Calls For Curbs On Underage Drinking
HARTFORD (CBS Connecticut) — Local officials today gathered at Hartford Police Headquarters to call on parents to stop their underage children from drinking and tailgating outside concerts at the XFinity Theater in Hartford’s North Meadows. The venue’s 2014 season is now getting underway.
Saint Francis Hospital Emergency Medicine Chief Steven Wolf is dreading the Rascal Flatts concert on Saturday.
“Its not even so much who’s playing, because a lot of people go there just to party and drink, and they don’t have tickets,” Wolf said. “Its not only the musician, its the reputation and what people do in those parking lots.”
Twenty-nine people were taken into custody after last year’s Rascal Flatts show. Police issued 126 infractions, mostly for underage drinking.
Police say it was the most arrests of any Xfinity North Meadows show last year.
