No Deaths On State Roads During Holiday Travel Period

(Middletown, Conn./CBS Connecticut) – State police have released final number from their busy Memorial Day holiday traffic enforcement.
For the four day period that ended at midnight, troopers logged 301 motor vehicle accidents, 54 with injury. The number of total accidents representes a slight increase over last year.
State police report no fatalities on the roads this year; there were two deaths for the same period in 2013.
Troopers handed out 1,248 speeding tickets. In addition, 954 were ticketed for seat belt violations. Over 4,100 were cited for hazardous moving violations.
They report 54 arrests for DUI.
With the summer months approaching, state police across Connecticut say they’ll continued stepped-up enforcment efforts.
