Fire Drives Residents From Multi-Family Home

(MANCHESTER,Conn./CBS Connecticut)  –  Residents of a multi-family home at  39 Cottage Street in Manchester were forced from their  homes Friday evening  by a  2  alarm  fire which extensively damaged the second floor and  caused moderate  damage to the first and third floors.

Connecticut Light and Power  shut off power  to the entire street as firefighters battled the flames    because power lines  run very close to the home.

The home  was declared uninhabitable.There were no injuries to  residents or firefighters.

The cause of  the blaze remains under investigation.
