UPDATE: Shortly before noon, Vernon police announced that Morris and the boys had been found in Bangor, Maine. They were safe. She was taken into custody.
VERNON, Conn. (AP) _ Police in Connecticut issued a multistate Amber Alert for three boys who went missing Sunday during a weekend visit with their mother.
Vernon police on Tuesday were looking for the children and their mother, 32-year-old Jackie Morris, who is believed to be driving a red 2004 Volkswagen Jetta with the Connecticut license plate 876YGJ. Morris has ties to Connecticut, Massachusetts and Maine.
Police say the boys– 9-year-old Ryan Lewis and 7-year-old twins Dylan and Brandan Lewis– live with their father in Vernon and Morris has visitation rights.
Morris is 5-foot-2 and 120 pounds with brown hair, blue eyes and a crucifix tattoo on her neck. She and the children were last seen at Vernon motel Sunday.
Relatives told police that Morris has a history of mental health problems.
