Gunfire Strikes North End Hartford Elementary School

HARTFORD, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) _ Students at Sand Elementary School were outside during a physical education class around two in the afternoon Monday when three rounds of stray gunfire struck the southeast wall of the school at 1750 Main St.

Police say an altercation broke out at a nearby apartment complex over a stolen motor bike – an incident unrelated to the school.

That led to a pair of suspects pulling out guns and firing several rounds at witnesses.

No one was hit as the witnesses fled.

No students were injured and a soft lock-down was put in place and later lifted.

Police continue to investigate.
