NEW HAVEN, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) _ New Haven police are asking for the public’s help in investigating a bank robbery at the Wells Fargo Bank Wednesday.

Police were called to the scene at 388 Whalley Ave. around 4:55 p.m., the teller reporting to officers that she’d been passed a note that demanded money.

The suspect is described as a white man, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-11 with average build and short facial hair. He wore a green coat with white piping, blue jeans and a white baseball cap.

He made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Shortly after the robbery was reported, officers stopped a suspect nearby. It was determined he was not the crook.

Detectives are asking for anyone who can aid in the investigation to call (203) 946-6304. Calls may be made confidentially.
