Long Lines at Sanchez Wake

MILFORD, Conn. (AP) _ A wake for a slain Connecticut teenager is drawing a large turnout.

The wake was being held Thursday in Milford for Maren Sanchez, a 16-year-old stabbed to death last Friday in a hallway of Jonathan Law High School in Milford.

Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, classmates and others paid tribute Monday to Sanchez, saying she lived a remarkable life and imploring others to learn from her example.

Sanchez was a member of the National Honor Society who was active in drama and other school activities.

Christopher Plaskon, a 16-year-old charged in the fatal stabbing, is due Friday in Milford Superior Court.

Plaskon’s family said Tuesday it joins the community in mourning the loss of life as it struggles to understand what led to the crime.
