WESTERLY, R.I. (AP) _ Workers are putting in some extra hours to replenish the sand at Misquamicut Beach and get it ready for the summer season.
The Westerly Sun reports the town has given the contractor, MZM Construction of Newark, N.J., permission to work on Saturday’s to complete the $3.1 million project before a June 1 deadline.
The penalty for not finishing by the June 1 deadline will be $2,385 per day.
