Deal Will Protect “The Preserve” On Shoreline From Development

(CBS Connecticut)  ––  A thousand-acre plot of land in Old Saybrook, Essex and Westbrook will be kept as undeveloped land under an arrangement between the state, land trust groups and Old Saybrook (where most of the plot is located.)

Governor Malloy says the eight-million dollar deal means the land —  known as “The Preserve” — kept for public use and conservation,  instead of used for apartments or a golf course.  He told those attending the announcement that he knows of no other land acquisition in the state higher-ranked than this one,

The deal still needs to pass the legislature, and needs local and environmental approvals.
