HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A task force established by Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy to review the rollout of Common Core education standards is meeting.

Malloy says the Educators’ Common Core Implementation Taskforce is scheduled to meet Wednesday at Cromwell High School to discuss best practices as recommendations are prepared for improving how the standards are put in place.

The 25-member group includes teachers, principals, superintendents, parents and others.

The group is charged with identifying challenges and gaps in preparing for Common Core, a new set of college and career-ready standards for students in grades K-12 that focus on English language, arts, literacy and math.

Malloy established the task force last month after he said teachers and education professionals raised “legitimate concerns” about how preparations for the standards incorporated in the teaching curriculum have been uneven.
