BROOKFIELD, Conn. (AP) _ Friends, family and state officials gathered at the funeral of Lou Rell, the husband of former Connecticut Gov. M. Jodi Rell, to celebrate his life and service to the United States and his community.
Rell, who died in Florida on March 22, was buried in the Rells’ hometown of Brookfield on Saturday. He was 73 and had battled cancer.
At the Brookfield Congregational Church, mourners paid tribute to Rell’s service as a Navy and commercial pilot and president of the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Department.
The Hearst Connecticut Media Group reports that friends were joined by officials such as Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman and U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal.
Wyman and Jodi Rell served together in the state House of Representatives and their friendship spans decades.
