Man Rescued From Icy Reservoir

(OXFORD,Conn./CBS Connecticut) – Police rescued a man who had fallen through the ice at the Naugatuck State Forest Reservoir # 3 off Old Litchfield Turnpike in Oxford Tuesday afternoon.

58 year old Kenneth Wakeley of Naugatuck was holding onto an ice fishing supply sled about 50 feet from shore.His panicked 12 year old son was on the shore.

Oxford’s Resident State Trooper Michael Dyki and Oxford Police Officer Dennis D’Angelo tossed a throw rope at Wakeley, who had difficulty holding on due to hypothermia, after spending more than 10 minutes in the freezing water.He was pulled to thicker ice and then eventually to shore.

Oxford EMS and Fire Department responded and treated Wakeley for  severe hypothermia.
