Chickens Seized From Condemned Home

Plainville, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) – The state’s Department of Agriculture seized nearly 200 chickens from a condemned house in Plainville Friday.

Authorities say they picked up 193 chickens from the home on North Washington Street and some were suffering from a respiratory disease.

The owners, Joseph and Mary Honyak, had been allowed to return to the property to feed and maintain the chickens, but not live there.

Officials say animal neglect charges may be filed against the owners.
