(CBS Connecticut) _ The latest Connecticut flu data through March 8 is in.

Epidemiologist Alan Siniscalchi  with the Department of Public Health says, “We have almost 4,000 laboratory-confirmed influenza reports from around the state. We’re definitely past peak, but flu is very much still with us here in Connecticut.”

There have been 19 flu-related deaths in state so far this season with four in the 25 to 49 year old age range; five in the 50 to 64 year olds; the rest are in people over 65.

Flu shots are still available and the season, which is mild compared to last year, is expected to last another month or so.
