Hartford Police Seized Fentanyl Laced Heroin

(Hartford, Conn./CBS Connecticut) – Hartford police investigating a spike in heroin overdoses have arrested five suspects.

It was just before one o’clock Wednesday afternoon that officers, working in conjunction with the FBI and the DEA, rounded up the suspects in a home on Enfield Street in the city.

Law enforcement agents had been targeting overdoses from heroin laced with Fentanyl.

They seized over two-thousand bags, stamped “New World”, “Bingo 9”, and “Shine”.

Also seized: marijuana, cash, and two motor vehicles.

Under arrest are 27-year-olds Carlos Cardona and Angel Gonzalez, 29-year-old Christopher Cardona, and 40-year-olds Romanita Gomez and Juan Antonio Baez.

The charges include federal narcotics trafficking violations, possession of narcotics, and possession with intent to sell.

Police stress this is an ongoing investigation.
