Clinton Police Make Sex Assault Arrest

CLINTON, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) _ Clinton police arrested a local man Monday morning following a four-month investigation into allegations he sexually assaulted a child.

William Motta Sr., 67, was charged with first-degree sexual assault, second-degree unlawful restraint and risk of injury.

The child involved in the allegations was an acquaintance of Motta and the alleged assault happened at Motta’s home. The parents of the child were not aware Motta had similar prior convictions in the 1970s and 1980s.

He’s not on the sex offender registry because the previous assaults were prior to the sex offender registry statute.

He was held on $500,000 bond and is due in Middletown Superior Court Monday (March 10).
