Guilford, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) – Police say Connecticut residents in Guilford and across the state are being targeted by con-artists calling from Puerto Rico.
Those who filed complaints with police say they received a call from a man with a Spanish accent claiming a relative is being held at gunpoint. The man then demanded money.
Authorities say the suspects have a series of phones and numbers they use in the scam.
Police say incidents like these are increasing and that residents should be vigilant.
