Families Displaced by Fire

HARTFORD,Conn./CBS Connecticut) –  Approximately  25 families  have been displaced by a fire in a carport  beneath a 4 story apartment building at 755 Wethersfield Avenue in Hartford.The blaze was reported shortly  before 6:30  Sunday morning.

When firefighters arrived they found  4  vehicles in  flames.The fire was contained underneath the building, but, the heat compromised the building’s  electricity and water, displacing residents. They are being assisted by the Red Cross , Special Services of the Hartford Fire Department and the city’s Health and Human Services Department.

Firefighters helped  12 people out of the building.Others made it out safely on their own.No injuries were reported.

The cause of  the  fire  remains under investigation.
