Reports Of Tainted Gasoline In Hartford

HARTFORD (CBS Connecticut) _ Complaints of tainted gas from Hartford’s Speedy Food Mart gas station at New Britain Avenue and Broad Street has caused the Connecticut Better Business Bureau to launch an investigation.

“Connecticut Better Business Bureau has received three formal complaints since [Feb.] 24 and we’ve been getting calls all [Friday] about this issue,” said spokesman Howard Schwartz.

The gas may include water and can cause stalling, hesitation and possible further engine problems.

The owner reportedly says he’ll reimburse everyone with a receipt for both the gas and mechanical costs and says those who used high-grade gasoline between Feb. 20 and 23 were the ones likely experiencing problems.
