Senate President Will Not Run For Re-Election

HARTFORD ( CBS Connecticut) — State Senate President Donald Williams has announced he will not seek re-election to the Senate this fall.

Williams,  who is from Brooklyn,  was elected in a special election in the 29th Senate district eleven years ago.

Governor Malloy said the Senate will miss Williams’ “leadership and his passion.” He pointed to Williams’ work on economic development and education issues.

Williams, who has been an attorney, journalist, educator and first selectman of Thompson, said in his announcement that he wants to pursue other challenges.
