New Heroin Drug Becoming Rampant In State

HARTFORD, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) _ It’s stamped “New World Heroin” and is laced with Fentanyl, making it 80 times more potent than Morphine and creating even more deadly side effects.

Hartford Deputy Police Chief Brian Foley says they’re already seeing a number of overdose deaths because of the drug and it’s not just in Hartford.

“East Windsor, for example, has four deaths since the beginning of the year and for a great town like that, that’s obviously a cause for concern,” Foley said.

The theory behind the drug, explains Foley, is to stretch out a dealer supply and consequently making it cheaper.

Foley says they rounded up some 2,000 bags of the drug just this past weekend in Hartford and they want to get the word out to stay away from it because it’s a killer.
