Noon Announcement On Salt For Cities And Towns

Governor Malloy has scheduled an announcement at noontime, about state assistance to cities and towns making salt available for snow removal crews.

As of last night,  Connecticut was down to about 15 tons of stockpiled road salt —  about enough for one storm —  with requests coming in for more from local communities around the state.  At that time, Governor Malloy said the state would ask for federal help in finding more salt,  and would do what it could to help the municipalities.

WTIC will carry the governor’s briefing at noon, live from the Emergency Operations Center.
