Justice To Face Second Confirmation Hearing
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Gov. Dannel P. Malloy’s nominee for the Connecticut Supreme Court is expected to appear again before a legislative panel, the first step in his latest confirmation process.
Former Appellate Court Judge Richard Robinson already testified before the General Assembly’s Judiciary Committee in December. The panel voted 29-0 to elevate him to the state’s highest bench. But because the legislature was not in session at the time, Robinson has to go through the same hearing and committee process again this year, followed by a vote of the House of Representatives and Senate.
Robinson, who has been working since December as the high court’s newest jurist, is expected to appear Friday before the committee. Nominees for the Superior Court and senior judge and state referee positions are also on tap to appear.
